All our clinicians are fully certified with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA), the regional peak body for genetics health professionals.We accept all genetics related referrals.  Our expert clinicians are also available to confidentially discuss patients regarding a possible genetic assessment.

Examples of queries we field include:

Possible connective tissue disorder
A family history that could indicate an inherited condition
Concern regarding a foetal abnormality
Multiple individuals in the family affected by cancer

Dr Kunal Verma

Clinical Geneticist & Cardiologist

Kunal is Australia and New Zealand’s first geneticist and cardiologist, having achieved accreditation as a specialist physician in both fields. He has held a National Health and Medical Research Council scholarship and is a teacher at Monash University. Progenics was started as a unique service to empower patients in making critical health decisions using the best of modern genetic testing. As a cardiologist he also provides expert and personalised cardiac care for people at risk of and those living with genetic heart disease.

As a geneticist, I know how difficult it can be to access and understand genetics. As a cardiologist, I’ve seen patients suffer the consequences of acting too late. As a husband and father of two, I know what is precious and worth protecting.

Making sense of genes and genetics tests can be time consuming, confusing and even worrying — but it doesn’t have to be. At Progenics, we are dedicated to providing the healthcare experience we would want for our own families: supportive, compassionate and thorough.
